The Bonnie Cashin Collection at Coach

This spring, Coach rolled out a new collection of bags and accessories inspired by one of their most innovative designers-Bonnie Cashin. Cashin was first hired by Coach in the early 1960s, but she had a long list of credits before signing on to the company. She was one of the first fashion designers to use leather and suede as well as hardware pieces in her creations in the 1950s. Some of her A-list fans included Gloria Vanderbilt and Marlena Dietrich. When she was hired by Coach in 1962, Cashin introduced bolder colors, outside coin purses, and an overall more feminine style to a company that mostly made classic men’s leather goods. Cashin passed away in 2000. In 2009, Coach created a style line in her honor that’s just hitting the stores.

The Bonnie Cashin collection at Coach features a number of products that defined Cashin’s pioneering designs. Here are a few of my favorites.

The Bonnie Satchel

The Bonnie satchel features her innovative outside coin purse and comes in two sizes–regular and large. The regular size is approximately 8″x 13″x 5″ and is available in four colors in leather and two fabric colors with the signature “CC” design. They retail between $358-$458. For the money-is-no-object fashionista, a larger satchel is also available in ostrich leather and sells for $4000!

The Foldover Crossbody bag

A clever and smartly designed handbag. This bag has a removable strap so it can be carried by the top handles. The foldover crossbody bag is approximately 13.5″ x 12″ and is available in 3 shades of leather and two signature jacquard fabric colors. It retails from $248-$278. A larger version of the foldover crossbody bag is also available in leather and signature jacquard and sells for $358. There is also a smaller crossover bag, similar to the swing pack style, with two extra side zippers that sells for under $170.

Bonnie Graphic Prints

These are, by far, my favorite. A few of Bonnie Cashin’s sketches provide the graphic art for the many styles in this collection. These adorable sketches show fashion-conscious ladies trotting through NYC carrying Bonnie Cashin designed handbags. One of the sketches is accompanied by the words ‘I wouldn’t walk a block without my Cashin-carry, especially down Madison Ave.’ The Bonnie graphic print items are cotton twill with leather trim and are available in Spring colors like navy, khaki, fuchsia/orange, and blue/green. The prints are featured on top handle pouches, totes, wristlets, and even high top sneakers! Prices range from $98 to $1000.

If you are looking for a more affordable option since all these designer bags can be really expensive, try luxurytastic for that. Thousands of luxurytastic reviews will prove to you how credible this service is and what all the existing customers have to say about them.
